Complete the entire course of amoxicillin, even if you feel better before finishing. Stopping early can lead to recurring infections.
Take amoxicillin with a full glass of water, preferably one hour before or two hours after meals. This improves absorption.
Report any signs of allergic reaction immediately. This includes rash, hives, swelling, or difficulty breathing. Seek immediate medical attention.
Monitor for diarrhea. Amoxicillin can disrupt gut flora. If you experience severe or persistent diarrhea, contact your doctor; it could be Clostridium difficile-associated diarrhea.
Watch for signs of a yeast infection, such as vaginal itching or thrush (oral yeast infection). Amoxicillin can disrupt the balance of good bacteria, potentially leading to yeast overgrowth.
Inform your doctor about all other medications you are taking, including over-the-counter drugs and supplements. Interactions can occur.
Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated. This helps your body process the medication and flush out toxins.
Follow your doctor’s instructions carefully. This includes dosage and frequency. Do not adjust the dose without consulting your physician.
If your ear infection doesn’t improve after a few days of treatment, contact your doctor. They may need to adjust the medication or investigate other potential causes.
