- Severe allergic reaction: Symptoms include difficulty breathing, swelling of your face, lips, tongue, or throat, hives, or rash. Severe diarrhea: Watery or bloody stools, accompanied by fever or severe abdominal cramps. Signs of a Clostridium difficile infection (C. diff): Severe diarrhea, fever, and abdominal pain. Persistent vomiting: Inability to keep down fluids for more than 12 hours. Jaundice: Yellowing of your skin or the whites of your eyes. Dark urine. Unusual bleeding or bruising. Symptoms worsening after 72 hours of treatment: No improvement or signs of infection getting worse. New or worsening symptoms: Development of unexpected symptoms not previously experienced.
For less urgent concerns, such as mild side effects like nausea or a mild rash, you can contact your doctor’s office for advice. However, if these mild side effects persist or worsen, seek medical attention immediately.
