Interactions with Other Medications

Always inform your doctor about all medications you are currently taking, including over-the-counter drugs, herbal remedies, and supplements. Sildenafil can interact with several drug classes.

Nitrates: Combining Sildenafil with nitrates (found in some heart medications) can cause a dangerous drop in blood pressure. This combination is strictly prohibited.

Alpha-blockers: Concurrent use with alpha-blockers (used to treat high blood pressure or prostate problems) may lead to significant hypotension. Your doctor should carefully monitor you if you’re taking both.

CYP3A4 inhibitors: Medications that inhibit the CYP3A4 enzyme (like ketoconazole and erythromycin) can increase Sildenafil levels in your blood, potentially intensifying side effects. Your doctor may adjust the Sildenafil dosage.

CYP3A4 inducers: Conversely, medications that induce CYP3A4 (like rifampin) can decrease Sildenafil levels, reducing its effectiveness. This interaction requires close medical supervision.

Other medications: Sildenafil may also interact with other medications, including those for blood clotting disorders, heart rhythm problems, and HIV. Discuss all your medications with your doctor before starting Sildenafil.

Consult your doctor: This information is not exhaustive. Always discuss potential drug interactions with your healthcare provider before taking Sildenafil, especially if you have pre-existing health conditions. Your health and safety are paramount.
